Discovery announced to expand its coverage of the FIA Formula E World Championship to all of its platforms across Europe. The agreement allows Discovery and Eurosport to consolidate their motorsport offering and be at the heart of Electric Motorsport’s expansion.
As the championship begins a new era for Formula E, ABB becomes the FIA World Championship. As soon as this new season opens this weekend, Discovery signs a multi-year agreement and thus extends coverage of the event to all of its platforms. From now on, Formula E will benefit from an unprecedented, linear and digital showcase thanks to free and pay channels and to the Discovery Group’s digital platforms, in more than 50 markets across Europe.
Since the competition’s debut in 2014, Discovery has aired all Formula E seasons through Eurosport. With this agreement, Discovery reaffirms this commitment and supports Formula E’s expansion into Europe. The live and on-demand broadcast of the Formula E World Championship will be offered in more than 50 markets on Eurosport channels as well as the Eurosport.FR and Eurosport apps. The discovery will also be available on Discovery’s global streaming service +, whose launch date in France is yet to be confirmed.
This new Formula E season will be launched this weekend on 26 and 27 February: the first stop will be at the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. Hitting the 2020-2021 season, the Diria E-Prix will be the first of the era of the FIA World Championships to be held on the night. L
