Before signing from Ligue Two outfit Bourg-Peronnas there was little to know about Frenchman Loic Damour but he has settled into life in South Wales very well so far.
Damour certainly looks like a fantastic addition for the Bluebirds so far, as he has shown in the first three games of the season - against Burton Albion, Portsmouth and Aston Villa respectively.
On the weekend, the 26 year-old received heaping praise after a phenomenal performance against Aston Villa, which saw the Bluebirds thrash the title-favourites 3-0.
The Frenchman was a key part to the midfield in the win over the Villans and although not being much of a threat in an attacking sense, he certainly did the simple things effectively.
And the box-to-box midfielder has looked like he has settled in well in the Bluebirds midfield. In the first two games, Damour featured as a substitute but following his superb displays, it meant he warranted a start against Aston Villa.
What Warnock will now be hoping is that Damour is able to perform like he did against Aston Villa on a permanent basis - if he can, it could prove to be a shrewd signing by the 68 year-old.
The Yorkshireman is known for his prowess in the transfer window and being able to recruit quality talent and his experience in the transfer market looks as though it may have paid off once again.
Players like Damour often go under the radar, but he has already shown what a vital player he could be for the Bluebirds and will be hoping to continue his fine form throughout the Championship season as Warnock’s troops look to bid for a place in the Premier League.
The Bluebirds are currently leading the Championship after two games, but it is important fans and players alike don’t get ahead of themselves and Warnock above anybody would have stressed that.
However, if Damour and the rest of the team produce the same level of performance and endeavour throughout this season, then they’ll have a fantastic chance of obtaining promotion to the Premier League, there’s no doubt about that.
