Coronavirus: Germany calls for caution after increased contamination

German Health Minister Jens Spahn told his fellow citizens on Sunday to be vigilant over the rise in the number of coronovirus infections, as schools are preparing to reopen in the country.

“This virus is not easy for us,” Jens Spahn said in an interview with the German press. “We are seeing an increase in numbers again. It is boring and it creates some uncertainty. Therefore, we must be careful, test and vaccination, ”the German minister said.

Germany has been partially contained since November, and in recent weeks it has been successful in bringing down the rate of coronavirus infection.

However, pollution began to increase slightly. A development responsible for the rapid spread of the British version of the disease considered more contagious.

Experts warn against the arrival of a third wave in this country, even as the 16 regional states that make up Germany (Länder) are beginning to ease pressure to control their populations.

Thus, from Monday, schools and days in ten Länder of the country should reopen. Many schools plan to limit class sizes, apply masks and ventilate rooms.

Germany reported 7,676 new cases on Sunday, bringing total infections from the onset of the epidemic to more than 2.3 million.

According to the Robert Koch Institute for Public Health Surveillance, more than 67,000 people have died from the virus in Germany.
