A sixth patient at Daisy Hill Hospital in New York has died after testing positive for Covid-19.

Thirteen patients associated with the men’s medical ward at County Down Hospital tested positive for the virus.

Eighteen of the eight staff members in the ward tested positive for the coronavirus, and 26 staff contacts were self-disconnected.

The Southern Health Trust confirmed that a total of 341 staff members had been tested.

A spokesman for the trust expressed deep sorrow to the family of the deceased patient.

“We can confirm that a review of the independent Sirius Adversity event is currently underway and that all deaths will be included as part of this process,” the spokesman said.
