Climate on demand tool from Moody’s ESG Solutions selected by private infrastructure development group

london –

Moody’s ESG Solutions today announced that Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) has selected the Moody’s Climate On Demand scoring tool to assess climate risk exposure in its investment projects.

PIDG mobilizes private investment in sustainable and inclusive infrastructure in sub-Saharan Africa and South and Southeast Asia. Using data from Moody’s, the group will review potential new investments for exposure to climate risks based on their exact location and assess the physical climate risk exposure of the assets in its existing portfolio. In addition, PIDG investment teams and project sponsors will use the data as the basis for due diligence, climate risk management and risk reduction measures.

“We need to ensure that new infrastructure is resilient to climate change, especially in the most vulnerable countries,” said Marco Serena, head of sustainable development impact at PIDG. “We look forward to working with project sponsors and our portfolio companies to use Moody’s data to better understand the risks of investing over its lifetime and build resilience to the impacts of climate change – not only For them, but also for the communities that use the infrastructure.”

With the help of Moody’s Climate on Demand tool, exposure of plants to physical climate risks such as floods, heat stress, hurricanes and typhoons, sea level rise, water scarcity and wildfires can be shown in advance. It can assess the risk of climate risks for any place in the world by the 2030s-2040s. Users can use it to examine specific risk drivers and explore underlying indicators by recording different risk dimensions for each hazard.
