The UK government reports to the Ministry of Health that the UK government will provide its citizens with a Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) to travel to the EU under the Brexit deal.
The new card will replace a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) after their expiration date.
“According to the new agreement between the UK and the European Union, the rights of UK residents for medical and emergency care will be protected when they travel to the European Union. At the moment the British can use a valid EHIC card, but once they expire they are likely to exchange for GHIC.
At the same time, the cards of citizens of European Union countries remain valid in Great Britain, the ministry emphasized.
