The news of his demise was verified by the station on Twitter currently, crafting: ‘We are deeply unfortunate to announce that our dear buddy Richard Cartridge has passed away adhering to a brief illness.

The station shared a guiding-the-scenes video from 2015 of Richard at operate. 

Richard, who retired in June, referred to the station as his ‘spiritual home’.

He was just one of Radio Solent’s longest-serving presenters and a huge favorite amongst listeners.  

He briefly still left Radio Solent in 2010 subsequent a cull of presenters but he was reinstated right after a petition demanding his return.

During his career, Richard also labored for Vintage FM and Bournemouth-based 2CR FM, as effectively as composing a column for the Southern Every day Echo.
