Bargoed-born superstar Nixon Newell features in Fight Club documentary

Popular South Wales based wrestler Nixon Newell has featured in a new wrestling documentary which gives viewers an insight into her wrestling career.

Wrestling news outlet ‘The Tag Rope‘ have pieced together a 25 minute long documentary on the career of Newell so far, as they follow her progress through professional wrestling.

The 22 year-old grappler whose real name is Steffanie began her competitive wrestling career only three years ago and has been touted as one of the best up and coming stars of professional wrestling.

Unfortunately for Newell though she has had to withdraw from the WWE’s Mae Young Classic tournament due to a torn ACL injury which would have given the Luchadora The Explorer the chance to showcase her wrestling

ability on the main stream stage.

The documentary features her emotional farewell from Fight Club: Pro year in which she came up against American grappler Candice Le Rae.

It also includes of her bout against Chris Brookes in an inter-gender match, something that Newell is grateful for.

“There was a show I was at, people actually left the show because I got hit by a man but I was the only woman on the card.”

“I think people need to realise it’s wrestling, it’s an art form.”

As well as featuring in Fight Club, she’s won numerous championships with Attack! Pro Wrestling, British Empire Wrestling, DDT Pro-Wrestling and is also a one time What Culture Pro Wrestling Women’s Champion.

She also opens up on which female wrestlers have had an influence on her wrestling career, in which her final Fight Pro opponent Candice Le Rae and Kay Lee Ray.

“These two have become mentors, they’ve helped me whenever I needed it, whether it was online, in-person.

“I don’t know how they’ve dealt with me but from the bottom of my heart, you don’t realise how much I thank you and how much I love you.

Once recovered, it has been reported that she will head to Orlando, Florida as she joins WWE’s development brand NXT after a successful try-out during the WWE’s UK tour.
