Villa ‘ask’ Chelsea about Abraham transfer
Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is being linked with a return to Aston Villa.
Abraham, 22, played a vital role in helping Villa back to the Premier League in the 2018/19 season with 26 goals during an impressive loan spell.
Villa want to sign a new forward this summer having struggled for goals last season. Record arrival Wesley Moraes scored five times in the league before getting injured and January buy Mbwana Samatta only once.
Dean Smith wanted to keep retain the services of Abraham last summer but the England international made the step up at Chelsea.
The Daily Mail reports Villa have spoken to Frank Lampard’s side in a request to bring Abraham back to B6.

Villa linked with £10m Martinez bid
Aston Villa have been tipped to make a move for Arsenal goalkeeper Emi Martinez as Dean Smith seeks further competition to his keeping department.
Martinez has been the first choice stopper for Mikel Arteta since number Bernd Leno suffered a knee injury in June after the restart of the Premier League season, and impressed in that time.
The Argentine has been on the Gunners’ books since 2010 and has had six loan spells away from the Emirates Stadium in that time – including with Wolves.
Having helped Arsenal claim the FA Cup this past season, there was talk that Martinez may have displaced Leno as Arteta’s number one for good, but the German is on the verge of returning from injury and there have been reports recently that the London club are prepared to sell Martinez this window if any interested parties match their asking price.
The Independent claim that Villa are preparing to put a bid together that will total £10m for the keeper, who is still only 27, as Smith looks for reinforcements across the pitch before the transfer window closes at the beginning of October.

McKennie turns down Premier League chance amid Villa interest
Weston McKennie has landed in Turin ahead of the completion of his move to Juventus – and in doing so, he’ll have turned down an offer to play in the Premier League.
Aston Villa have been linked with midfielder McKennie, a USA international who is currently a Schalke player.
He’s set to swap Germany for Italy in the near future, however, and join Andrea Pirlo’s squad ahead of the new Serie A season.
He will cost Juve in the region of £25m, and has been tipped to have a particularly bright future, but by heading to the Italian champions – who are seeking a tenth straight league title – he’ll be rejecting strong interest from various English clubs.
Everton, Newcastle and Southampton, as well as Villa, have been credited with an interest in McKennie, who will sign for Juve on an initial season-long loan with the deal turning permanent next summer, reports ESPN.
