Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s are urging shoppers to return these items

Major retailers have issued product recalls on scallops, curry hot sauce, pork loin medallions and cheese tubes.

The Chartered Trading Standard’s Institute (CTSI) have published information on items that have been recalled by suppliers or authorities over serious health concerns.

There are several reasons behind a product recall, both items and food, such as unlisted ingredients, allergens which could pose serious health risks or toxins that could cause food poisoning.

Baked Whole King Scallops

Highland Bay Seafoods is recalling their Baked Whole King Scallops with a creamy leek and kale sauce topped with mash potato because it contains fish which is not mentioned on the label.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to fish.

Benyfit Natural Pet Food

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to celery and/or mustard.

Cliftons Farm recalls milk

Cliftons Farm is recalling raw milk and raw cream because a bacteria which can cause food poisoning has been found in its products.

The FSA alert says the usual symptoms caused by campylobacter are fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

Co-op is recalling 2 Herby Pork Loin Medallions because it contains soya which is not mentioned on the label as Asian Style Pork Belly Slices have been incorrectly labelled as Pork Loin Medallions.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya.

Primula Cheese tubes

Primula Ltd is recalling all Primula Cheese tubes, (chilled and ambient) because the products might be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum due to a production fault.

A statement from the FSA says: “Manufacturing controls that could potentially affect the safety of the products listed above could not be demonstrated satisfactorily by the company.

“The issue relates to controlling factors to prevent the growth and toxin production of Clostridium botulinum.

“Botulinum toxin may cause a serious form of food poisoning called botulism and can be fatal.

“A recall from customers is being carried out as a precautionary measure.”
