Annual Meetings of the IDB in Sharm El Sheikh, June 1-4, 2022

The Islamic Development Bank will hold its 2022 annual meeting in Sharm el-Sheikh on June 1-4. The Egyptian event will be organized around the theme “Beyond Recovery: Resilience and Sustainability”.

Under the patronage of President Abdel-Fatah el-Sisi, and in response to an official invitation from the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB) will hold its 2022 annual meetings in Sharm el-Sheikh. 1erTill 4th June 2022 under the theme Beyond Recovery: Resilience and Stability “. The meetings this year are being held against the backdrop of major economic and geopolitical developments, characterized by a significant decline in the COVID-19 pandemic and renewed hope of recovery in the global economy.

The Ministers of Economy, Planning and Finance from 57 member countries of the IDB will participate in these meetings. Representatives from international and regional financial institutions, as well as representatives of trade unions of Islamic banks, national development finance institutions and entrepreneurs will also participate.

The meetings represent an opportunity to study and explore ways to further strengthen economic ties between IDB member states. In addition, they provide member countries with the opportunity to maximize cooperation with participating financing institutions. This year’s meetings will also see the IDB Group private sector forum for the first time in four days, where representatives from large corporations and the business community are expected to attend.

Hala Al-Sayed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and IDB Governor of Egypt, said that Cairo is using all its capabilities to ensure the success of the IDB Group’s annual meetings. He noted that the group’s cooperation portfolio has grown to more than $16 billion as a result of the extensive relationship with the IDB since its inception in 1974.
