Amazon customers in the UK can continue to pay with Visa. Originally, the fee was too high for an online mail order company, but both groups want to find a common solution.
Contrary to what has been announced, online giant Amazon wants to continue accepting Visa credit cards as a means of payment in Great Britain.
Due to controversy about fees Amazon believes are too high, the online retailer announced in November that it would no longer accept cards starting January 19. A compromise is now emerging.
An Amazon spokesperson said on Monday, “Expected changes regarding the use of Visa credit cards on Amazon.co.uk will not occur on January 19.” It is working closely with Visa to find a solution that will allow customers to continue using their cards. A Visa spokesperson said customers can continue to use the company’s credit cards when shopping on Amazon “as long as we work together to reach an agreement.” According to Amazon, foreign Visa cards were not affected by the controversy.
