The US e-commerce giant wants to respond to the surge in demand with the Kovid-19 epidemic. Amazon on Friday, May 14, announced the creation of 10,000 jobs in the United Kingdom in 2021, in particular thanks to the opening of four new distribution centers and a parcel reception center. According to a statement, the e-commerce company will increase its workforce in the country to 55,000 by the end of the year.
These new jobs will be created in administrative services, Amazon Web Services data centers, and distribution. Hiring will take place in many large British cities including London, Manchester and Edinburgh, for example, in digital marketing, software or artificial intelligence.
Amazon has invested over 23 billion dollars in the UK since 2010. The group employs 1.27 million people worldwide, up 50% from a year earlier. However, it is routinely described by unions as a way to treat their employees, especially less qualified ones.
