Alex Jones has been featured on The One Show after testing a friend for the coronavirus

Alex Jones was forced out of the One Show after a friend contracted a cornvirus the following week.

The 43-year-old host needs to be separated and replaced in today’s show, which he co-starred with co-star Gethin Jones.

Alex appeared via video call from his home to explain the situation to the audience and revealed that he had met a flock for a positive test for Cole-19.

In a chat with Alex Scott and Gethin, his replacement, Alex said: “I totally felt like I wasn’t there, but what happened was that a friend of mine, who saw the work outside a few days ago, tested positive for the coronavirus.

“So we did the right thing as a family and we’re just getting isolated. Now I’ve given a test and thankfully it’s negative – just like my friend is good – but we stay, we’re following the guideline.

“I’ll probably be back next week.”

Alex, however, admits that he enjoys spending extra time with his children and husband Charlie Thomson.

He said: “Of course there is encouragement.

“Charlie is back with the kids, you can probably hear them right above me now, and I’ll go to them and read some stories in a second, which is beautiful.

“It simply came to our notice then. We’re all in the same boat, so really. But I miss you all. I miss the crew too.

Alex’s former longtime co-star Matt Baker left the show earlier this year after nearly 10 years.
