Alain Prost and Team Alpine Separate – Motors

Former Formula 1 driver Alain Prost will no longer be the non-executive director of the Formula 1 Alpine team for the 2022 season.

Prost, a four-time F1 world champion (1985, 1986, 1989 and 1993), served as the team ambassador/advisor for Renault’s return to F1 in 2016, before being named non-executive director in F1. 2019. 2019.

The former Renault driver (1981–1983) had an annual contract that was not renewed for the next season.

Alpine, designated at the start of the 2021 season, is in full refurbishment with the team based in Viry-Châtillon (France) for the engine part and President Laurent Rossi in Enstone (United Kingdom) for the chassis part.

Last week, Marcin Budkowski resigned from his position as executive director. Pending his replacement, Rossi temporarily takes over these tasks.

Budkowski’s departure could open doors for American Otmar Szafner, who has just stepped down as Aston Martin’s general manager.

Alpine have confirmed their drivers Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon for the 2022 season, which begins on March 20 in Bahrain for a record 23 Grand Prix calendar.
