The Taliban announced a “general amnesty” for Afghan state officials who held office under President Ashraf Ghani, and urged women to participate in the government, which is preparing to form the movement.

The statements of Enamullah Samanjani, a member of the Taliban Cultural Committee, appear to cheer the situation in Kabul.

As the Associated Press reports, Afghanistan’s capital has been shaken by winds of chaos, following agitations and attempts by the US military to flee civilians through flights operated by the US military to evacuate its Afghan civilians and allies.

“The Islamic Emirate does not want women to suffer. They should be in a government structure according to Sharia law,” Samanjani said.

He said the structure of the government is not completely clear, but based on experience, there should be an Islamic leadership that includes all parties.

He also called on Afghan state officials working under the Ghani regime to return to work.

“Our people are Muslims and we are not here to force them to convert to Islam,” said Samanjani.

After taking control of several strategic provincial capitals in recent days and forcing government forces to surrender or flee, the Taliban arrived at the gates of the capital Kabul last Sunday and captured much of the country.

After the departure of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his close aides, former President Hamid Karzai, veteran politician Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and chief peace negotiator Abdullah Abdullah formed a council aimed at ensuring the smooth transition of power.

The United States, through a military force of approximately 3,000 troops stationed at Kabul Airport, is working to complete the relocation of American and Afghan civilians who cooperate with Washington.
