What Cardiff City must do to sustain astonishing form for remainder of Championship season?

The Bluebirds made it six wins on the spin on the weekend as they saw off strugglers Birmingham City in the Welsh Capital, but what must they do now to maintain this form between now and the end of the season?

Keep key players fit…

The squad is thining by week recently and there is most certainly a mini injury crisis in the Welsh Capital at the moment. Neil Warnock has already alluded to the fact that he doesn’t want to take too many risks, especially with just 10 games to spare.

The injury list is growing. But, if they’re to continue this astonishing form, keeping the likes of Kenneth Zohore, Callum Paterson and Sean Morrison fit will be absolutely essential.

Winning the ugly way…

On occasions this season, Cardiff have been branded as being a ‘boring’ football team. However, if you look at some of the goals the Bluebirds have scored this season, the fans would beg to differ.

But it is at the stage of the season where you need to show your promotion credentials and if that means winning ugly, then it won’t bother Warnock or the Bluebirds faithful one bit.

Target Kenneth Zohore more, he has his mojo back…

It has been a stuttering season for the big Dane. But, in recent weeks, he looks like he has finally found his feet which will be music to Warnock’s ears.

Following his injury, he had struggled to get back to full flow but he now looks like he is flourishing and if he can get the service, there is absolutely no doubt that he can punish any defence in this division.

Maintain defensive solidarity…

The Bluebirds have arguably the best defence in the league, conceding the least amount of goals in the league and had kept four clean sheets on the bounce, before letting in three in two games against Barnsley and Birmingham City, respectively.

Keeping the defence stern will be key now, especially with two tough tests against both Brentford and Derby County to come next. If they can continue to defend as a unit, then there is every chance they will be in the mix to secure that elusive second-place to secure that dream promotion to the Premier League.

Keep starting games well, with high-intentsity…

Earlier in the season, the Bluebirds were struggling to start games well, which would have no doubt frustrated Warnock and fans alike.

However, in recent weeks, they’ve shown what a force they can be in an attacking sense – scoring three in the first-half against Birmingham City on the weekend and if they can keep starting games well for the remainder of the season, with high intensity, the odds will be stacked highly in their favour to earn promotion.
