Swansea City have won their appeal against the red card given to midfielder Leroy Fer, the FA have announced.
Fer was shown a straight red card by referee Anthony Taylor, during their FA Cup draw with Wolves at Molinuex, for tripping Helder Costa.
It was feared that the sending off which caused confusion from television pundits, looked as though it would have given the midfielder a three-match ban but that’s not the case.
An FA spokesman said:“Leroy Fer will be available for Swansea’s next three games after an independent regulatory commission accepted that he was wrongly dismissed for violent conduct against Wolves on Saturday January 6.”
The decision to overturn the red card by the FA means Fer will be available for Saturday’s clash with Newcastle United at St James’ Park, kick-off 15.00 GMT.
