Newport County have confirmed the signing of forward Antoine Semenyo on a season-long loan from Championship club Bristol City.
Semenyo will link up with Mike Flynn’s men until the end of the season, with the option of a recall in January.
The 18-year-old made his Bristol City debut as a second half substitute during the Robins’ 3-2 defeat against Sheffield United on the final day of last season.
Semenyo spent a month on loan with Bath City in January, where he netted six goals in nine appearances.
The youngster signed a deal with Bristol until summer 2019, before making the loan switch to the National League South outfit.
“It’s only been about a year in the academy now so I needed that initial experience and I’m now happy to get this loan at Newport County AFC in League Two,” Semenyo told iFollow Exiles.
“I’m sure it’ll be a very good loan for me and I’m ready to impress.
“Mike Flynn said he watched me last season and he realised that I was one of the star players in that division.
“He felt like I would do really well coming over here so he gave me a call to join the club and I was happy to join. I want to come here, impress, and improve my game.”
Newport boss Mike Flynn praised the talented youngster, as well as Bristol City for their assistance in making the deal possible.
“Very happy to have got Antoine over the line. He is a young, hungry, strong talent who has just signed a new deal with Bristol City which shows how highly they think of him.
“I would like to thank Bristol City for their help in getting this done and long let the good relationship continue.”
