Cardiff City are interested in signing Angers and Senegal midfielder Cheikh N’Doye according to reports.
HITC Sport has reported that the Bluebirds are tracking the contract situation of the 31 year-old central midfielder as his contract expires at the end of the month and it could be South Wales that is N’Doye’s next destination.
City could be competing with Greek side PAOK Thessaloniki though for his signature as they made an unsuccessful bid for the midfielder back in January. English Premier League side West Bromwich Albion also were interested in N’Doye two years ago, where he was valued at €10m according to L’Equipe.
The tough-tackling midfielder has played in France for his whole club career and this season he scored 7 goals in 37 appearances for Angers, guiding them to a 12th placed finish.
N’Doye was also a losing finalist in the recent Coupe de France final as his Angers side lost 1-0 to French giants Paris Saint-Germain, losing to an own goal.
France Football, a French football news outlet ranked N’Doye as one of the best performing African players in Ligue One this season, describing his best personal traits as ubiquitous, his leadership and his self-determination.
N’Doye who stands at 6 foot 2 is known for his physical presence and has scored a majority of his goals with his head.
The move for N’Doye could pave way for midfielders such as Emyr Huws and Stuart O’Keefe who are currently out-of-favour with manager Neil Warnock.
