Cardiff City and Birmingham City are to do battle once again as the two Championship sides chase the signing of Greek defender Kostas Triantafyllopoulos.

The pair were both interested in Cheikh N’Doye with the Brummies winning the battle to sign the midfielder. But now the two are to do battle for the Greek U21 defender.

The 24-year-old has yet to play outside of his home country of Greece but with impressive performances

HITC Sport says that the Bluebirds and Blues are both looking to strengthen their defence by adding the Greek defender to their back-line.

From the report, they have both sent scouts to track the progress of Triantafyllpoulous as they gain more information on the player.

Kostas Triantafyllopoulos previously played for Greek Super League side Panathinaikos, before moving to Asteras Tripolis in January of last year, to secure first-team opportunities.

Cardiff already has Bruno Ecuele Manga, Sol Bamba and Sean Morrison to choose from already in the centre-back department but with the South Wales side going well so far, Neil Warnock will want to ensure he has strength in depth.

They’re also expected to complete the signing of Venezuelan international Rolf Feltscher after staving off competition from Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy.
